Teaching
Nancy’s master teaching techniques include the physical, sensory, emotional, and relationship work of:
-
Meisner: Shifting the actor’s attention from himself (self-consciousness) and onto the “other” (person, object, imaginary situation). This frees the actor to listen, to be in the present moment, and to engage genuinely and naturally.
-
Stanislavsky: Use of sense memory.
-
Eric Morris: The technique of releasing and freeing the emotional life of the actor which allows the actor to take the risks necessary to create a whole and truthful character.
-
Jerzy Grotowski: The technique of freeing the body—expanding the physical vocabulary—in order to engage in total body/mind/emotional expression of character.
-
-
Viola Spolin: Practice of improvisational theatre games in order to create a fearless spontaneity and immediacy in performance and presentation.
